WIP Wednesday: Mystery Quilt Blocks Complete

Two weeks ago I showed you what I was up to. Then I prepared for and went to Boston for the weekend. Now I'm back and can show you what I got done before I went on my trip. While I didn't make any progress on quilting my Building Blocks Quilt Along blocks, I did finish piecing the 18 blocks for my mystery quilt...

mystery quilt blocksThere are six with the light backgrounds and 12 with the dark backgrounds. I'm curious what the placement will be in the final quilt.

light background blocksdark background blocksI love the scrappy feel of these blocks. I don't think I've ever made a quilt with pieced blocks that weren't all identical. This brings me to step 12 in the project. Step 12 has 297 pieces that I am to sew into 99 three-piece units. The pile is a little daunting to me. I also have no idea what they will become. The mystery part of the mystery quilt is so fun!

for step 12I also bought some new fabric that I'm drooling over. Pics coming soon. :-)

And now, some highlights from my trip to Boston.

I love reading your posts, Sarah. It makes me feel productive without actually doing any work myself! Seriously, they are very fun to read and the Boston pics are great, too!

Thanks, Marji! While blogging has added another hobby to my list, I'm really enjoying it and it's helping me stay motivated to make progress on my many other projects.

This is the second one I've done. My first was 20 fat quarters with different BRIGHT colors and a black/white print as the contrast. It's stuck in the "quilt top" stage, as I want to do some piecing for the backing and need to decide how I want to free motion quilt it. Thanks for looking!
