How many quilting UnFinished Objects do you have? Do you know?

I used to post a quarterly list of all the projects here on my blog. I loved it. I could see everything in one place and that meant that I didn't have hidden projects out of sight, out of mind. Nothing surprised me when I opened a closet or cabinet that hadn't been opened in a while. It's been just over two years since my last Finish Along blog post. I'm not really sure how many projects I have now... and I've maybe forgotten about some of them.

I had been wanting to resurrect the list, posting it regularly on the blog again. Maybe quarterly, maybe just twice a year. And then Bobbie (of The Geeky Bobbin) reached out to invite me to join her UFOvember Blog Hop.

Huzzah! I've signed up to share a finished UFO with you on November 13 for the Blog Hop alongside 29 other quilters who will be sharing about their UFO inventory, and how they are resuming, reworking, and rehoming those UFOs this month!

So in the next few days I'll be working on updating my list which I'll share later this month. And I'll be back to share my finish on November 13.

Here's the amazing lineup of participants. Bookmark this page so you can get back here to visit each day's new blog post. The first four posts are already live. Enjoy!

Please share how many UFOs you have in the comments and feel free to make a guess at how many quilting UFOs I currently have. ;-) When I update my list I'm going to try to include the age of each project. So if you want to guess how old my oldest UFO is, feel free!

Today was the first day of the last 100 days of 2021. Time sure flies. I've mentioned in recent blog posts that I did #99DaysofWIPs this summer, from Memorial Day to Labor day, focusing on WIPs that were started in classes. I finished three small bags, two pillow covers, and five quilts in that time. Plus progress on a handful of other projects.

Today I started #WIPsBeGone2021 with Leanne of Devoted Quilter. We're spending the last 100 days of 2021 working on WIPs (works in progress). This time I'm not limiting myself to class WIPs. And I'm aiming for larger finishes. First up is my 60" x 60" Tic Tac Toe Quilt (free block tutorial by Alyce of Blossom Heart Quilts). I have 25 blocks made for me by my old quilt bee, The Solid Seven. In August 2020 I asked them to make blocks in their choice of these Kona colors:

  • Breakers
  • Limelight
  • Lapis
  • Cabbage
  • Spruce
  • Pool
  • Blueberry
  • Cactus
  • Steel
  • Leaf
  • Spring
  • Cypress
  • Celestial
  • Nightfall

Today I took the pile out, put them up on the design wall without overthinking their placement, and started sewing them together. The first two rows of 10 blocks are all together now.

I absolutely love the interaction of the color combinations. My plan is to focus on this project until completion before I dig out my next WIP. I'm also working on a couple other things at the moment. :-)

I'm making the baby version which is a mere 4 blocks a week at this point. I realized just how quickly they sewed up when I pieced 4 blocks in a half hour on Saturday evening. I finished 4 more on Sunday and pressed them all up to share with you today. This makes me caught up to the QAL schedule. Woo hoo!

In my week 5 blocks I focused on making the darkest blocks I could.

In my week 6 blocks I made some of the lightest possible blocks.

Here are my first 12 blocks all together. I definitely have a variety of values, but I'm missing some mid-tone blocks at this point. I may also rip a few seams in my strip pieced units to mix things up and create some lighter overall strips and darker overall strips. My finished quilt will have 30 blocks, so I'm approaching halfway.

Thank you to Amy for hosting the Quilt Along. You can see my earlier progress in my Weeks 1 & 2Week 3, and Week 4 posts.
